MAKE A DONATION
The
advantages of donating to the Land Trust are numerous, and so are
the ways in which you can. Knowing that you are helping to protect
the remaining open space, working landscapes, natural resources
and wildlife habitat on Conanicut Island for future generations
will hopefully be reason enough. There are at least three possible ways you can help the Land Trust fulfill its mission.
Donate your Land
The most direct way for you to help to conserve undeveloped land
on Jamestown is by an outright donation of your own land, or by
one of the other vehicles available to property owners such as accepting
an easement, selling development rights or bargain land sale. Not
only can these actions protect your land from development in perpetuity
you may also receive some significant estate planning advantages.

Donate Funds
As an all volunteer organization, our expenses are seemingly modest.
However, income from membership supports only the general operations
of the Land Trust, including our newsletter, member activities,
insurance, and some small projects on our properties. In order to
be really effective in conserving new properties, and protecting
and managing the properties we own or hold easements on, we rely
on generous supplemental donations from the community. These invaluable
funds help us in a variety of ways, including:
- providing emergency funding to secure at-risk properties for the short term while long term arrangements can be made.
- implementing property management plans including building trails, surveying boundaries, monitoring flora and fauna and maintaining the land for healthy biodiversity and ecological balance.
- maintaining a legal fund should the Land Trust ever have to defend their legal responsibilities to the protected land.
Donate Time and Energy
The Land Trust relies entirely on the unselfish efforts of volunteers
for all of its activities.
Whether it is harvesting vegetables for the soup kitchens, submitting
soil analysis and wildlife reports, stewarding properties, mapping,
surveying property lines, negotiating with state and local authorities,
event planning, membership, grant writing, designing brochures,
fundraising. We need your energy, your time, your ideas… as
